CPD Opportunity for Assessing Cross-Curricular Skills
at Key Stage 3


CCEA is offering a final limited series of workshops and online professional development courses
to support the formal assessment of Communication and Using Mathematics.

This course is open to two teachers per skill area per school who teach English or Mathematics and are involved in the formal assessment of these Cross-Curricular Skills.


CCEA is providing:

  • Teacher Release for two teachers per skill to attend the workshop;
  • Two additional Teacher Release days per skill may be available to assist with the planning and piloting of the subject specific assessment task.

The introductory workshop and online professional development course have been designed for English and Mathematics teachers who have responsibility for formally assessing Communication and Using Mathematics at key stage three. Attendance at the introductory workshop is essential as this prepares you for the three week online course which directly follows it.


The introductory workshop will provide an opportunity to:

  • use an online professional development course;
  • meet with Cross-Curricular Skills team (Key Stage 3);
  • review the processes involved with effective assessment activity development.

The three week online professional development course offers the opportunity to:

  • work with the Cross-Curricular Skills Team, including Teacher Associates;
  • work with other English and Mathematics teachers to develop assessment activities for your school;
  • network with other schools;
  • access a range of exemplar subject specific assessment activities developed during the online forums.
