Mime

Learning intentions

  • We are learning to develop a short piece of mime into a performance.
  • We are learning to enhance a piece of mime through the use of music or narration.

What to look for

  • Pupils creating a short performance
  • Pupils adding narration or music to their performance
  • Pupils basing a mime around a poem or story they have chosen

Learning activities

Have the pupils create a short piece of performance, perhaps choosing a daily routine (as in KS1). Develop this further by encouraging them to add either narration or a piece of background music.

Allow the pupils to choose a poem or a short story that they can act out using mime. They may wish to play suitable music as an accompaniment. They may also need to use a narrator.
