Teacher in role
Learning intentions
- We are learning to react appropriately to various situations.
What to look for
- Pupils viewing the teacher as an assumed other (for example, the person who finds the baby or Goldilocks)
- Pupils offering a range of suggestions and ideas (for example, to help the baby or to apologise to the three bears)
- Pupils re-enacting the situation by placing themselves in the role of the assumed other
Learning activities
Assume a role, for example:
- a person who has just found a baby abandoned on a doorstep, and who has never cared for a baby before. Have the pupils assume the role of ‘super-helpers’ who know everything about babies. Encourage them to suggest what items you might need to be able to look after the baby; or
- Goldilocks. Ask the pupils how you could apologise to the three bears.
