Pupils in role
Learning intentions
- We are learning to develop their imaginative thinking while in role.
What to look for
- Pupils engaging fully in imaginative thinking and imaginative movements
- Pupils moving imaginatively in response to a given situation or scenario
- Pupils discussing imagined situations
Learning activities
Lead the pupils on imaginary journeys linked to ongoing learning and teaching topics, for example:
- going through an imaginary door into Snow White’s cottage;
- going on a bear hunt;
- taking a ride on a magic carpet; or
- travelling through space in a rocket.
Start by using questions to guide them into imaginative thinking. Encourage them to think about, for example:
- what items they would need to take on their journeys; and
- what their movements would be like.
