Training/Support
We offer varying levels of training advice and support. This is a free service offered to all primary and post-primary schools. The following sets out the levels of support on offer:-
- Telephone/e-mail support
- 1 hour information awareness session
- ½ day introduction and workshop session
- Full day introduction, workshop and planning session
The above sessions, usually at your school, can be provided for whole staff, teams/departments or individual teachers. If you wish to avail of any training, support or advice just contact us
1. Telephone /e-mail support
We provide telephone/e-mail advice and support to help you deliver Financial Capability in your school/classroom. We can also direct you to the most appropriate resources/ websites which are usually free and accessible on-line.
2. 1 hour information awareness session
We provide a free 1 hour information session which can form part of directed time or staff training days. Through your school’s participation in this information awareness session your teachers will be provided with:
- information on the rationale and purpose of financial capability;
- an indication of where financial capability sits in the Big Picture;
- summaries and overview grids for each key stage;
- appropriate resources and details of websites which will help in the delivery of financial capability.
3. ½ Day Session: Introduction & Practical Workshop
This session is suitable for whole school, teams/departments and individual teachers. The session begins with a 1 hour introduction to financial capability outlining:
- information on the rationale and purpose of financial capability;
- an indication of where financial capability sits in the Big Picture;
- summaries and overview grids for each key stage;
- appropriate resources and details of websites which will help in the delivery of financial capability.
The session then moves into a workshop, which allows the teachers the opportunity to experience some financial capability activities first hand. These will be activities which they could actually use in their schools with their pupils.
4. Full Day: Introduction, Practical Workshop with Planning
This session is suitable for whole school, teams/departments and individual teachers. The morning session begins with a 1 hour introduction to financial capability outlining:
- information on the rationale and purpose of financial capability;
- an indication of where financial capability sits in the Big Picture;
- summaries and overview grids for each key stage;
- appropriate resources and details of websites which will help in the delivery of financial capability.
The morning session then moves into a workshop, which allows the teachers the opportunity to experience some financial capability activities first hand. These will be activities which they could actually use in their schools and use with their pupils.
The afternoon session deals with planning for implementation. Teachers will be given the opportunity to review their schemes of work and highlight opportunities for the delivery of financial capability and prepare some lesson plans.
By the end of the day it is intended that teachers will leave with an action plan for the delivery of financial capability.
