The two new computer-based assessment providers were successful in a public procurement process commissioned by the Department of Education.
The public procurement process facilitated providers to tender for Literacy or Numeracy computer-based assessments or both. This process identified two different providers.
Online training will be made available from May to September 2012. This will ensure that schools have flexibility in accessing appropriate training and support to prepare for the new computer-based assessments in the autumn term 2012.
One day of teacher release will be provided for all Year 4 to Year 7 teachers accessing this training.
No, the contract between CEM and the Department of Education in Northern Ireland ends on 31 January 2012. From this date schools will no longer be provided with InCAS free of charge.
Once the contract between CEM and the Department of Education ends on 31 January some of the support materials will be removed from www.nicurriculum.org.uk. This will include the Inky Pupil Demo.
Yes, you can continue to use InCAS but remember that it will no longer be a statutory assessment in Northern Ireland. From September 2012 you will be required to use the new assessments for Literacy (Tribal) and Numeracy (Rising Stars) specified by the Department of Education.
