Modern Languages
This area provides opportunities for young people to develop effective communication skills through listening, speaking, reading and writing and some understanding of the richness of language and literature in any culture as a means of communication and creative expression. Active, enjoyable and challenging learning opportunities in this area aim to develop in young people:
- A critical awareness of language and culture as means of communication and the expression of identity;
- The ability to communicate and respond to feelings, experiences and ideas in the target language;
- Confidence in self-expression and communicating in the target language;
- A willingness to use and refine their language skills in a variety of situations.
