Improvisation 2

Learning intentions

  • We are learning to act out stories and scenarios.

What to look for

  • Pupils readily sharing and discussing ideas for introducing resources in imaginative ways in a range of play situations
  • Pupils working in pairs and small groups to create stories and scenarios

Learning activities

Have the pupils work individually, in pairs or in small groups. Ask them to create scenarios and dialogue using small world figures, for example:

  • using the sand tray to represent the jungle;
  • using the water tray to represent the undersea world; or
  • using tuff trays to represent an Arctic scene.

Then give them an opportunity to extend their imaginative play in an outdoor environment.
