Who do I want to be?

Key Element: Employability
Year 10

Northern Ireland is no longer a high volume low skills economy. The new knowledge economy is about ideas, creativity and enterprise. Jobs are no longer for life and young people will need a portfolio of skills that they can market to different organisations or use to create self-employment.

This theme draws together Technology and Design, Modern Languages, Personal Development, Mathematics and Employability. It demonstrates how the different areas of learning can be taught in parallel to increase pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the world of work and opportunities for career enhancement. The focus is on the skills and qualities they will need to compete in a dynamic global market.
