Compare and contrast how the culture and lifestyle of different countries are represented in stories, poems and images.
Investigate local oral traditions and dialects.

History
Investigate the impact of significant events/ideas of the 20 th century on the world, for example, war, women’s rights, international terrorism, developments in transport and travel, technology, medicine, the arts, etc.

Geography
Contrast how people from different parts of the world adapt to threats/opportunities posed by their environments (physical, social, economic).

Drama
Drama and dance traditions from different countries. Represent cultural similarities and differences through performance etc. Hot seat famous people from different cultures. Freeze frame important events from diverse cultural communities.

Geography
Challenge stereotypes and perceptions of different places, peoples and environments by creating a photo gallery and/or fact file.
Investigate the impact of diversity on a local settlement in terms of multiculturalism, greater global awareness and potential for conflict or segregation.
Investigate the human and physical factors that result in people having to make life changing decisions, for example, economic migration and family planning.

Irish (in Irish Medium Schools)
Investigate local oral traditions and dialects including, for example, the role of the seanchaí, local place names etc.
Compare and contrast how the culture and lifestyle of different countries and regions, for example, the Gaeltacht are represented in stories, poems and images.
Create links with pupils in another minority language community to debate and share experiences on the issue of minority language and/or culture.

Science
Consider how the development of scientific ideas or theories relate to the historical or cultural context, for example, the development of the heliocentric model of the solar system, Jenner’s work on vaccination etc.
